The Habit System
This semester you’ll design and maintain two weekly habits that support your growth as a musician. See 00.04-Habits-Framework for complete details.
Weekly Structure:
- Monday: Lecture/Demonstration
- Wednesday: Alternates between Studio (odd weeks) and Feedback (even weeks)
- Sunday: Assignment Due (11:59 PM)

Learning Through Imitation
Every production topic this semester will be approached through learning by imitation—studying, analyzing, and recreating the work of professionals.
The Framework:
- Listen/Watch: Active, critical consumption of professional work
- Analyze: Break down what you hear/see into specific choices
- Recreate: Attempt to reproduce elements of what you studied
- Reflect: What did you learn? How does this inform your own work?
Progression: Copy → Understand → Adapt → Create
