Week 15: Final Review and Portfolio

Unit 6 · Wrap-up · Wed May 13

Overview

The semester closes with a review of everything the toolchain now covers — Unity, FMOD, C#, spatial audio, adaptive music, ambiences, optimization — and with the question of how to show it. A game-audio portfolio piece is not a bounce: it is a gameplay capture with your audio, a short write-up of the systems behind it, and a clean project someone else could open.

In Class

  • Hour 1: Final Q&A and project sign-off
  • Hour 2: Portfolio: capturing gameplay video, documenting an FMOD project, presenting interactive work to non-technical collaborators
  • Hour 3: Hands-on: record and cut your Survival Game capture; draft the write-up

Portfolio Deliverable

  • A gameplay capture (2–4 minutes) demonstrating the SFX, the score-driven intensity changes, and the health-driven effects
  • A one-page description of the audio systems: events, parameters, buses, and the musical design behind them
  • The FMOD and Unity projects, organized and named for handoff

Looking Ahead

Year 2, Fall continues the Media Music Tech Lab sequence; the Survival Game build becomes the first interactive piece in each composer’s portfolio.
