Composition Assignment: Interactive Music - Part 1: Sketch

Composition Assignment: Interactive Music - Part 1: Sketch

Situation

The game developer is really happy with all the SFX you made for their game and really enjoyed working with you so far. After having heard some of your music on your website they are now interested in possibly having you compose the music for the game as well. They want the music to really drive the vibe and endlessly ramping energy of the game. But before getting too deep into it, they want to hear music for the first ~30 seconds or so of game play. Something that shows how the music can begin by setting the mood of the game and a little bit of how the music can evolve in relationship to the “score” and player’s “health.”

They don’t really have any music in mind yet and are totally open to whatever you think.

Creative Brief

Compose and implement in FMOD ~30 second piece of music for the Survival Shooter game that you just finished creating the SFX for. Even though the developer asked for a “sketch” you should never show a potential client an actual sketch, only things that sound as good as you can possibly make them.

Your composition should show both the general vibe that you think the music should have and how the intensity can grow from low to moderate intensity as the player’s score starts to increase.
