Composition Assignment: Film Scoring Part 2 - Iteration

Provided Materials

  • Google Sheet Template: Spotting Session
  • Scene: Dropbox Download Link (password to be shared verbally in class)
  • Notes From Initial Phone Call With Director of Blight

Situation

After watching your first draft of cue 1m03, the director has some comments to give both in terms of the sound palette and the ways your music works with the on-screen action. You’ve taken detailed notes, including the SMPTE of any specific moments the director had notes on.

Creative Brief

Compose a new version of cue 1m03 based upon the feedback you received from the director.

NOTE: If you have any creative difference with the director, you can compose two variations of the cue:

  1. A version that attempts to give the director exactly what they are asking for
  2. A second version that shows the director what your instincts are telling you

File Format & Standards

When you are done composing, make sure that your track’s final peak volume level is between -1 and -24 dB. Then, export it as a movie file that contains only the music (no SFX or dialogue).

SP24-MUSC-228_P2_FirstName-LastName_1m03-Revision_V002
